Silva Getting Rematch, Belfort Not Getting Title Shot

Despite his best efforts, Vitor Belfort will have to wait in line before getting a shot at newly crowned UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman. According to UFC President Dana White, when the final bell sounded to conclude the UFC 162 main event, White’s phone lit up like a Christmas tree with txts from “The Phenom” requesting first dibs at Weidman.

White also made note of Belfort’s request at the UFC 162 post fight press conference but made it clear that Belfort will be waiting and Anderson Silva will get a rematch:

“Anderson Silva has gone undefeated since 2006 and has beat everybody and held the title. He deserves the rematch. Chris Weidman said that before he even fought him. Vitor is just going to have to wait – he is not getting a rematch. He can text, Tweet, write fucking letters, call his Congressman — he can do whatever he wants to do. He’s going to have to wait. Anderson Silva is getting the rematch.”

When and where that rematch happens has yet to be determined.
