The UFC Bantamweight title will still be on the line at UFC 148, though the current Champion Dominick Cruz will not be a participant.

UFC President Dana White confirmed that Urijah Faber will still fight at UFC 148 and it will be for the Interim UFC Bantamweight Championship. No opponent has been confirmed though Renan Barao, Michael McDonald and Ivan Menjivar have all been named as possible candidates.

White commented on the change via Twitter “So, what's gonna happen is, Urijah Faber, he's gonna fight still. He's gonna fight on the same card. Now, I'm looking for the right opponent, the guy who deserves this shot at Urijah Faber.”

Cruz was forced out of the rubber match between himself and Faber due to an ACL injury suffered in training for the July 7th match up. The injury will not force coach out of his coaching spot opposite of Faber on this season of The Ultimate Fighter Live on FOX.
