Anderson Silva Ready To Take Time Off, Plan Out Future

After ten successful middleweight title defenses, Anderson Silva finally met his match at UFC 162 when he was stopped in the second round by Chris Weidman, ending the Brazilians long reign as champion.

There has been talk that Silva will receive first crack at Weidman in an immediate rematch, something Weidman was completely open to, but Silva himself did not seem to keen on committing to the match up post fight Saturday night.

“I want to take some time off and maybe three to four months, think about what I want to do. Really, right now, I can’t think about (a rematch),” Silva explained during the post fight press conference. “I just want to take some time off, go home, and think about everything and be alone.

It’s not the first time Silva expressed interest in stepping away from the sport, through his time as champion he was always open to retirement talk or jumping ship to the boxing world.

“There’s a lot of pressure in defending this title. I defended it for a long time, so I need some time to myself.”
