BJ Penn Returning To UFC, Will Coach TUF, Fight Frankie Edgar

In a move that came out of nowhere, it was announced during Wednesday night’s broadcast of UFC Tonight that former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion BJ Penn will return to the UFC.

Penn, alongside Frankie Edgar will coach the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and will then face each other at the conclusion of the season. The match will be at featherweight, the first time Penn has fought in the division.

UFC President Dana White said the reason for Penn’s return was his desire to avenge two losses to Edgar. The two fought twice in 2010 with Penn losing both time.

“He says, ‘I can beat Frankie Edgar,’” White said. “The two first fights were BS. I want that fight again. I want to beat this guy so bad. It’s all I want.”
