UFC President Dana White lost one of his biggest cash cows when former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre walked away from the sport of MMA last week with no plans for a return anytime soon.
Although one may think White will be putting pressure on St. Pierre to return to the cage, it appears the Prez will give him his space. He spoke about it with MMAJunkie.com:
“I’ll leave him alone. I’ll leave him alone and let him do his thing. When a guy gets done fighting, I don’t bother the guys until it’s time to fight again. Let them go, let them disappear and do their thing. Then we contact them when it’s time to fight again.”
As whether he thinks St. Pierre will be in attendance when Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler face off for the vacated 170lb title, he didn’t know:
“I don’t know, probably not. It sounds like he wants to get away. Like I said … earlier, he’s going to fix the zoo first. Once he gets the zoo straightened out, he’ll probably be focusing on fighting again and trying to regain the title.”
